May 26, 2020
Hi Folks – I have received several requests to get the club together in some manner. I would like to setup a Zoom meeting for any and all who can join. I have provided some how-to sheets if this is new to you or you would like some additional information. (Links at bottom of this story.)

Agenda for the meeting would be:
  1. Checking in with members.
  2. Sharing information about the scholarships given by our Scholarship Foundation this year.
  3. Information about Jeff Coleman’s installation as your President for next year.
  4. Information from Jeff about meetings starting in July – possibly a new lunch location with a plated meal and weekly cost. Jeff will want to know your opinions and feelings.
  5. Interest ?? for doing any service projects for the community. Additional mask giveaways from the district grant, money from our budget (it would put my year in the red, but that’s okay with me) for the food bank being run by the First Methodist Church or Good Samaritans (when they open), or any idea from a member. Please make a suggestion.
If the Rockport Rotary Club would decide to hold in person meetings, we would be following the Rotary International guidelines.

Most importantly, the Board decided that no in-person Rotary meeting or event shall be mandatory. Anyone who feels uncomfortable attending because of the pandemic, will be permitted to skip in-person events. This is a major change for us, and an essential one if we are going to properly care for all Rotarians and continue to put their health and safety first.

The dates I am looking at are June 4 or June 11. Zoom meeting will open at 11:30 for fellowship and I will ring a bell and start the meeting at 12:00.

Please drop me an email or phone call and give me your thoughts and preferences.

Masks from District Grant to be distributed.

We have More!

We did receive the $500 grant from District 5930 for PPE (specifically masks). I have two local businesses who wanted them (Remley Advisory Group and Great Clips). I will be distributing next week. Let me know if you would like to come along.

We do have more - If your business would like to have some for walk-ins who come without or you know of another organization or business who needs some - please share.

The Rotary Four-Way Test

Of the Things We Think, Say or Do:

With a South Texas addition

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to All Concerned?
  3. Will it Build Goodwill and Better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to All Concerned?
  5. Will it be fun?
Our 1.2 million-member organization started with the vision of one man—Paul P. Harris. The Chicago attorney formed one of the world’s first service organizations, the Rotary Club of Chicago, on 23 February 1905 as a place where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Rotary’s name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among the offices of each member.
