Rotary Meetings Cancelled Until Further Notice

Message from President Nancy Paulson

Out of an abundance of caution and to keep our members healthy and safe, the Rotary Club of Rockport, TX is cancelling our regular Thursday meetings until further notice. We did not make this decision lightly. However, we wish to adhere to the community guidelines put forth by the CDC, Rotary District 5930 and Rotary International.

Our Four-Way Test asks us “is it fair to all concerned?” While many of us may feel healthy and want to interact socially, we must be mindful of our friends and family members whose health challenges may make them more vulnerable to COVID-19.

In the meantime, here are a few ways we encourage Rotarians to continue to connect and create community as good stewards of our great club:

  1. Call, email, or text a Rotarian every day to check in on them and say hello.
  2. Use social media to spread a positive blurb about the Rockport Rotary Club projects or events.
  3. When we do gather again, be the first one there. We will be ready to see you and we will need your support!

Look for more frequent communications from the club in the coming weeks. Thank you for your flexibility, patience and grace as we continue to navigate this rapidly-changing situation.

This is a fluid situation. Things can change literally minute to minute. We will do our best to keep you informed and up to date as this evolves.

The Rotary Four-Way Test

Of the Things We Think, Say or Do:

With a South Texas addition

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to All Concerned?
  3. Will it Build Goodwill and Better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to All Concerned?
  5. Will it be fun?
Our 1.2 million-member organization started with the vision of one man—Paul P. Harris. The Chicago attorney formed one of the world’s first service organizations, the Rotary Club of Chicago, on 23 February 1905 as a place where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Rotary’s name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among the offices of each member.
